Oh, and yes, I have adjusted the rod so that it less than .020" from the stop (per the spec) with the throttles completely disconnected. So, at idle, it is probably burning 50:1 but when the linkage moves out, it is throwing more leverage and opening too far... I hope this is the issue because if so, its an easier fix then rebuilding the oil pump. I hope this is the issue because if so, its an easier fix then rebuilding the oil pump. If you remove the rod, the pump lever rotates to the max oil ratio position. That protects the motor by injecting more oil should there be a problem with the rod adjustment or connection. Of course if you run at low speed with the lower oil ratio, not only will you use more oil than needed,...
