Q: I usually check consumer reports for more purchases over 50 bucks and I'm currently looking for a beard trimmer (not an electric razor) and consumer reports does not have a review on these. Any recommendations on what to get? or not to get?
A: I'm actually also looking for a new beard/mustache trimmer after my Braun fell and broke. My wife did some research for me and showed me this one, Philips Norelco T980 Turbo Vacuum Beard and Mustache Trimmer. From reading reviews, seems a little on the

* Toxic Overalls: Samarra Brothers recalled Chinese-manufactured
I’m upgrading from my 3 year old Norelco rotary type shaver. I paid about $60 for it. It wasn’t holding a charge and didn’t shave my neck very well. I did a lot of research, starting with Consumer Reports’ ratings and a lot of user reviews at Amazon and other sites. I’m happy with my choice of the Panasonic ES8103S, and at $53 it’s a great value. I was set to pay $150 or so.
Some say it’s noisy. Well, it would be nice if it were muted a bit. But hey, it’s not a blade shaver!
I think a lot of one’s reaction to the first use of this (or any) electric shaver is affected by what one has been used to. If it was a blade, it will take some adjustment. Since I was used to a rotary, it felt comfortable and smooth from day one. ( W. Cox )
