Colleen Schlundt, 6, and her brother, Matt, rolled up a huge snowball on Monday for what quickly became a seasonal greeting on the side of Highway 168. Out of school for the next week, they were anxious to take advantage of one of the first major snowfalls of the season.
"You can make snowmen, you can make snow angels, you can make a snowball," said Colleen Schlundt.
With no chains, their father decided not to risk the drive on Sunday, when several inches of snow fell about the 6,000 foot level.
Since the storm, crews have been trying to keep the roads clear in and around Shaver Lake.

"Usually we get it the day after Thanksgiving, but with these storms... The day after Thanksgiving is going to be even worse than it is today," said Marcia Rasmussen.
