Q: I have a Dazey Hair dryer or in other words a bonnet hair dryer. I was told this would work with my daughters hair. She has a very tight coarse curl but thin hair. She wants me to occasionally straighten her hair with rollers and the Dazey hair dryer

A: Roll her hair in very large rollers and put her under the dryer, then wrap it.

Are bonnet hair dryers any good?
[2007-06-14 13:42:32]

I had the bonnet cap. Like a shower cap you attach to your blow dryer at home. Disaster...kept blowing off my head. But the ones that are upright and get placed over your head are great.

Bonnet Hair Dryer vs. Blow dryer | bonnetdryer.org

I imagine some of the younger generation is sitting there wondering what in the world a bonnet hair dryer is! This type of hair dryer is usually found in a beauty shop. The weird bubble-like contraption is attached to a stand on the back of a beauty shop chair. After you have a permanent, or had your hair washed, the beautician takes you over to the chair and lowers the hair dryer down on your head.

The cool thing is that you do not need to go to a beauty shop in order to use one of these. You can purchase them and use them at home. One of the differences is that the home version does not get as hot as the salon hair dryer. These dryers are good if you put your hair in rollers and do not want to wait for the hair to dry. You can purchase a large or extra large hood and the amount of heat it generates varies from 1,200 to 2,000 watts. Most of the home dryers have an average of 1.875 watts.

Before you use the dryer for the first time, you need to know that when you turn it on, a surge of heat is released from inside the hair dryer and possibly from the back stand where there are air holes. You need to make sure that the location where you set the hair dryer is free from things that can melt, papers, cloths, and any flammable objects. You need to make sure that you place the bonnet hair dryer on a hard surface that is high enough for you to sit under. The front of the bonnet should be level with your forehead. This will allow the heat to circulate around your hair, and through any rollers that you have in your hair.

Are Vintage Salon-Style Hair Dryers Safe for You? :O?
[2008-09-21 18:59:16]

:D Hi, I was planning on dying my hair, so my mom pulled out this vintage bonnet-style salon hair dryer that she found sitting in my grandma's garage... It's from around the 1960s I believe and it seems to be in pretty good condition (no rust, etc..).

I don't think it would be a health risk. I don't think there would be any asbestos in it. But I am always concerned about old wiring, but I don't think you really have anything to worry about. It's not that old. I'd use it. I've used one of those before.
