Still one of the classiest casinos in Las Vegas, now undergoing renovation
Bellagio , the masterpiece that Steve Wynn unveiled in 1998, set the standard against which other Las Vegas hotels are measured.

Now near the end of a $70 million room renovation under the ownership of MGM Resorts International, Bellagio remains almost a city unto itself, with its spectacular fountains, Mediterranean pools, a breathtaking Chihuly stained glass installation across the ceiling, oft-changing botanical gardens and world-class art gallery. There's a renowned Cirque du Soleil show set in and over water, a dreamy spa and some of the finest restaurants on this side of the continent.

My wife and I have stayed there perhaps a dozen times over the years, selectively shopping for nonpeak days to keep the price down (a recent search turned up rates starting at $129 a night). And on our most recent stay last spring, we found so much to see and do that we never left the hotel.
